TechStack Strategy is run by someone who has spent 30 years inside real businesses. I built them, grew one from a boutique firm into a national leader, and automated the workflows that were quietly costing them the most. Along the way I built, patented, and sold automation technology in the most demanding, most regulated industry in America. Healthcare.
Where I learned how businesses really work
I didn't start in a boardroom. I started in operating rooms, working alongside physicians and clinical teams, helping them see where waste was hiding and where costs could come out without touching quality. That's where I learned the lesson that has shaped everything since. The people doing the work almost always know something is leaking. What they don't have is the time, the data, or the systems to stop it.
Front desks know calls are being missed. Owners know leads are going cold. Everyone knows past clients drift away. Knowing isn't the problem. Capacity is. And capacity is exactly what automation buys back.
Building VIE Healthcare
In 1999, I founded VIE Healthcare Consulting on a contrarian idea. The biggest money hospitals were losing wasn't in the places everyone was looking. It was buried in thousands of invoice line items nobody had time to read.
Finding it required a brutally manual workflow. Pull 12 to 18 months of invoices. Reconcile every line against every contract. Catch the pricing errors and off-contract charges hiding in the details. So I did what I've done my whole career when a workflow is too manual to scale.
I automated it.
That automation became the patented Invoice Analytics System (U.S. Patent No. 10,296,880), technology that extracts, reconciles, and analyzes invoice data in real time. It remains the only patent of its kind issued for automation and line-item precision in purchased services spend. I hold two patents, and this one went on to be used across the healthcare industry, helping hospitals and health systems eliminate more than $1 billion in documented unnecessary costs.
Finding the savings was only half the work. I also had to win the business, again and again, against firms a thousand times my size. Over 23 years I grew VIE Healthcare into one of the nation's leading healthcare performance improvement firms, generating more than $200 million in sales without a dollar of outside investment. In 2022, VIE Healthcare was acquired by Morgan Stanley Capital Partners.
Not just efficiency. Growth.
Plugging leaks gets attention, but businesses don't thrive on efficiency alone. They thrive by growing. I've spent my career on both sides of that equation, advising hospital executives on strategy and margin improvement while building the sales engine that took my own firm from a startup to a national name. I wrote a book on it, The Entrepreneurial Hospital, and I host The Healthcare Leadership Experience, a podcast where I talk with leaders about growth, strategy, and operations. Today I also advise companies on commercial strategy and how to earn the attention of executive buyers.
The systems we build at TechStack Strategy carry that same dual focus. Automation that stops the losses, and automation that feeds growth. Answered calls become booked appointments. Fast follow-up wins the deals your competitors are still getting around to. Reactivated clients become repeat revenue.
How I think about automation
Thirty years of this work comes down to a few convictions, and they run through everything TechStack Strategy builds.
Visibility first, then action at the line-item level. I love a good dashboard. You can't fix what you can't see, and a clear dashboard is where every recovery starts. But a dashboard is the starting line, not the finish line. Real recovery happens in the details underneath it. This specific missed call. This specific lead that never got a follow-up. This specific client who hasn't been back in 14 months. We build systems that give you both the dashboard that shows you the leak and the automation that acts on every line item behind it.
Automate the workflow, not the relationship. Automation should never make your business feel robotic to a customer. It should do the opposite. Answer every call, follow up in minutes instead of days, and remember every client, so that when a human enters the conversation, they're stepping into a relationship the system kept warm.
If it isn't measured, it isn't managed. Every system we install has a number attached to it. Calls captured, leads contacted, clients reactivated, revenue recovered. You should never have to wonder whether your automation is working. You should be able to read it.
Start where the money is leaking fastest. Not every workflow deserves automation on day one. The order matters. That's the entire purpose of the Gap Diagnosis. Find the leak costing you the most, plug it first, and let the recovered revenue fund the rest.
Why TechStack Strategy exists
Here's what three decades inside hospitals taught me. The businesses losing the most money almost never know it, because the losses are invisible. A missed call doesn't show up on a P&L. A lead that went cold on day three doesn't send you an invoice for what it cost you. A past client who drifted away never tells you they would have come back if someone had just reached out.
I built a career making invisible losses visible, and then building the automated systems that stop them.
Hospitals could afford to hire firms like mine. Most service businesses can't. But the technology finally caught up. The same class of automation that once required a patented enterprise system is now available to the dental practice, the law firm, the med spa, the contractor. What's missing isn't the tools. It's someone who has actually operationalized automation inside real businesses. Someone who knows which workflows to automate, in what order, and how to measure whether it's working.
That's the gap TechStack Strategy fills.
What that means for you
When we run your Gap Diagnosis, you're not getting a template. You're getting a methodology refined over 30 years of finding money that operators didn't know they were losing, applied to your phones, your leads, your follow-up, and your past clients.
I know how to optimize and grow a business, because I did it. I know how to automate manual workflows, because I patented it. And I know healthcare from the inside, which is why practices and healthcare-adjacent businesses are a core focus of our work.
The team behind the systems
Lisa has brought together a team of industry technology partners to design, build, and run every system TechStack Strategy installs: specialists in AI voice, systems integration, workflow automation, and AI-search visibility, operating under one methodology and one standard of measurement. Clients get the judgment of a 30-year operator and the execution of a vetted technical bench, working as one team.
